Sciences Experimentation and observation are at the heart of learning Science at our boarding school in the UK, King’s College Saint Michael’s. Whether in Biology, Chemistry or Physics, learning through experimentation is fundamental.
Our purpose-built laboratories offer everything students need to learn by doing, from investigating atomic structures and the periodic table in Chemistry to designing an experiment to compare the viscosities of two liquids in Physics.
Studying the Sciences enables us to understand the world around us. We also offer our students the opportunity to develop this passion for invention and understanding by offering GCSEs and A Levels in Chemistry, Physics and Biology. We know that studying Science requires discipline – but the rewards are not only fun, they can be life-changing and set future agendas. The best discoveries come from
people who are inspired by great teachers to become passionate about science, innovation and discovery.
By nurturing curiosity, we encourage a love of Science that often results in our pupils wanting to further their knowledge and thus undertake a degree in the Sciences or Engineering at university.
Our science department are very active and frequently hold debates, presentations and experiments as part of our science club. Each year we organise science week where students can take part in a variety of science based activities and experiments. Students are also taken to universities to attend scientific lectures.
