Meet our UK Boarding school team: the Principal
“It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to King’s College Saint Michaels, an international boarding school in the UK. Saint Michaels is located in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside close to the borders of Herefordshire & Shropshire. This idyllic and peaceful location is only 50 minutes from Birmingham’s international airport and within close proximity of many fascinating cities. As an international boarding school in the UK we specialise in helping students from all over the world focus on their studies and gain entry to some of the top universities in the UK.
As a boarding school in the UK one of our main priorities is to ensure children feel safe and cared for whilst they live and study here. As the father of two children myself, I understand how important it is for parents to feel confident that their children are being well looked after, as well as receiving an excellent education at their chosen boarding school in the UK.
Globalisation and today’s fast moving economy mean that it is increasingly important for young people to develop into confident, global citizens. One of the great benefits of the education students receive at international boarding schools in the UK – particularly at Saint Michael’s, is the variety of nationalities at the school: we have students from all over the world , from very different cultures, growing and developing together in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. This is an ethos echoed by all boarding schools in the UK, but we feel that the international environment at Saint Michaels ensures that this idea becomes a reality.
If you join the Saint Michaels community, you offer your child the best opportunity to benefit from a caring and academically focussed environment. Furthermore, the diversity of nationalities and the opportunity to make many lifelong friendships that comes with studying in a small school like Saint Michaels, means your child will settle into academic life at a boarding school in the UK quickly and happily.
I would encourage you to come and visit us to experience the special atmosphere and the warm and friendly environment of Saint Michaels for yourself”
Stuart Higgins has been principal at Saint Michaels for 18 years and has guided the school from its humble beginnings as a small college with no on campus accommodation to its current status as one of the well-known and trusted international boarding schools in England.
Prior to taking the headship at Saint Michaels, Mr Higgins taught English in Spain, Sweden and Indonesia. He has also worked as Head of English and as a Director of Studies on Summer School. He is a devoted Arsenal fan and says one of the worst parts of his job as principal at a boarding school in England is signing the cheque to Manchester United every year to pay for the students’ stadium tour of Old Trafford.
